What’s in the bag

Numbered in the order you’ll use them. One system in five parts. The Playbook explains a decision, the Workbook makes you act on it, the Customer Kit turns it into something your customer reads, and the Field Cards are what you carry when a spreadsheet is not an option.

00Start Here & The Two Screens

PDF · 10 pages

What this business really is, the two things that quietly cost beginners money, the scope you can safely launch with, and the honest page about what this will not help you build.

  • 00-Start-Here-and-The-Two-Screens.pdf

01The Window Cleaning Playbook

PDF · 32 pages

The durable core, in the order the decisions happen: knowing what glass you are looking at, what you may and may not do to it, technique and the standard, screens and interiors, working at height, equipment stages, counting and quoting, customers, and reading your own record.

  • 01-The-Window-Cleaning-Playbook.pdf

02The Job Workbook

Excel / Google Sheets · 6 connected tabs

The file the work runs on: your rates and rules, the readiness gate that produces your measured speed, the screens that decide a job before it can be priced, one row per quote and job, and the calibration that reads your own record back to you.

  • 02-The-Job-Workbook.xlsx

03The Customer Kit

Word / Google Docs · 7 documents

Everything a customer reads or agrees to: the pre-start condition record, the quote and scope confirmation, the additional-work note, the storefront and residential approaches, and the follow-up and rebooking messages.

  • 03-The-Customer-Kit.docx

04The Field Cards

PDF, print · 2 cards

The two pages you keep in the van, for the moments when a spreadsheet is not an option: the screen you run standing at the property, and the check you run before you leave.

A closer look inside

Pages and spreadsheet views from the files you download, not mockups. Open any one to read it.

What you’ll be able to do

Each one names the file that does it.

  • Know what the glass will tolerate before you touch it

Which panes must never meet a blade, how to tell in three seconds, what must not go near a sealed unit’s edges, and how to record what was already damaged before you started.

01 · The Window Cleaning Playbook

  • Practice to a standard, and measure yourself doing it

Four window types cleaned to a stated quality bar, judged in daylight, plus a timed run that gives you the one number every quote you ever write depends on.

    02 · The Job Workbook

  • Decide whether to take a job, change the method, or walk away

Two screens run before a price is spoken: one about reaching it safely, one about cleaning it without wrecking it. Most answers are not refusals; they are method changes.

    02 · The Job Workbook · 04 · The Field Cards

  • Quote from your own numbers instead of somebody else’s

Count it your way, turn it into hours using your measured speed, add what it truly costs you including the driving, then present it however the customer expects to see it.

    02 · The Job Workbook

  • Say exactly what is included before you start

A quote and scope confirmation that carries your own counting convention and your exclusions, a pre-start condition record, and the messages that get the next booking.

    03 · The Customer Kit

  • Let finished jobs make the next quote better

Your real speed, what the work pays door to door, how far your estimates land from reality, and whether you are winning so many quotes that you are underpriced.

    02 · The Job Workbook

Who it’s for

  • You want a local service business you can start with a few hundred dollars of ordinary tools
  • You have never cleaned a window professionally and would rather practice to a standard than guess
  • You want to know which jobs are safe for a beginner to take, and which to hand on
  • You would rather price from what you can actually do than copy a number off the internet
  • You are working alone, at ground level, and want repeat customers instead of one-off jobs

Who it’s not for

  • You want high-rise, rope descent or suspended-platform work. This teaches none of it, on purpose
  • You want a price-per-window table to copy. There is no honest one, and this explains why
  • You want income projections. There are none here
  • You already run a crew and need scheduling software
  • You want a squeegee tutorial. That is free, and this tells you to go and watch it

Six phases. One gate.

The gate is real: the Workbook will not price a job until you have practiced to a standard and measured how fast you actually are.

Read 00 · Start Here first, then Chapters 1–4 of the Playbook before you touch anyone else’s glass. Everything after that is used on a job rather than read.

  1. Decide the offer you can actually deliver

A launch scope you can say out loud: whose glass, which floors, what is included, and what you decline.

    Start Here (00) · Playbook ch. 1
  2. Get ready, and measure yourself doing it

Four window types cleaned to a stated standard, and your own baseline speed, the number every quote is built on.

    Playbook ch. 4 · Workbook (02) Practice & Readiness
    Ready to quote a stranger
  3. Screen the job before you price it

A verdict you can defend, decided before a number is spoken: go, change the method, or walk away.

    Playbook ch. 2–3, 6 · Workbook (02) · Field Cards (04)
  4. Scope it and quote it from your own numbers

A price built from your measured speed, your costs and your target pay, and a written scope the customer agrees to.

    Playbook ch. 8 · Workbook (02) · Customer Kit (03)
  5. Do the work and check it against a standard

Glass cleaned without damaging it, the pre-existing condition on record, and your own result inspected in daylight before you leave.

    Playbook ch. 3–5 · Field Cards (04) · Customer Kit (03)
  6. Get paid, rebook, and let the job teach you

Your real speed, what the work pays door to door, and equipment decisions made on logged demand instead of enthusiasm.

Playbook ch. 9–10 · Workbook (02) Quotes & Jobs, Calibration

What it doesn’t do

  • No income figures, and no price-per-window table to copy. The published ranges contradict each other, and this explains why
  • No high-rise, rope descent, suspended platform or lift work, and no pretending they are a near-term step
  • No post-construction cleans or hard-water stain removal sold as services. The first is where blade damage concentrates; the second cannot be promised, because etched glass is replaced, not cleaned. Both are taught as things to screen, quote separately or decline
  • No brand recommendations: capabilities and specifications only
  • Not legal, tax or insurance advice. Every rule quoted carries its source and date so you can check it yourself
  • Nothing asks you to make content, run ads or build a funnel

How it was made

  • Researched in September 2026 from the glass industry’s own published cleaning guidance, the ASTM specification it rests on, federal workplace safety standards read at source, and municipal and state requirements checked directly.
  • Every safety and damage rule is quoted rather than paraphrased, with its document and date, so you can verify it yourself.
  • The workbook was tested against 30 independently computed scenarios, including proving that a job the screens rejected cannot be priced, and that an empty file gives no verdict at all.
  • Where the evidence contradicted itself, the product says so instead of picking a number.

Before you buy

The questions people ask about this bag. More on the support page.

Do I need to know how to clean a window already?

No. The Playbook covers enough technique to practice intelligently and to recognize when your own result is not good enough, and the Workbook holds a readiness gate you have to pass before it will price a stranger’s job. It is honest that the speed itself comes from practice nobody can sell you.

Does this tell me what to charge?

It gives you a method that produces your price, which is not the same thing and is more useful. Published rates for this work disagree with each other badly, and they were set by people working several times faster than a beginner. The Workbook builds a price from your own measured speed, your real costs including the driving, and the pay you want.

What equipment do I have to buy?

A traditional kit costing a few hundred dollars, which is a complete professional method and not a beginner’s compromise. Everything beyond that is staged, and the Workbook will only tell you an upgrade is worth investigating once your own logged jobs show demand for what it would let you do.

Does it cover second-story or high work?

Second-story exterior glass is covered as something you reach from the ground once you have earned the capability, not as a reason to buy a taller ladder. Rope descent, suspended platforms and lifts are outside this bag entirely, and it explains exactly why rather than just warning you off.

Will it work outside the United States?

The technique, the screens, the quoting method and the calibration are not jurisdiction-specific. The safety standards quoted are US federal ones, and the local checklist is built around US registration, tax and permit questions, so you would need to substitute your own equivalents.

What do I actually get?

An instant download containing five files: two guides, a six-tab workbook that opens in Excel or Google Sheets, an editable customer document set for Word or Google Docs, and two printable field cards.
