Who it’s for

A beginner starting residential work

  • You want to start detailing from your own car or SUV — driveways first, no shop, no van required
  • You have a starting budget in the low four figures — less with gear you already own — and want to know exactly where it should and shouldn't go
  • You'd rather follow a tested routine than piece one together from forty contradictory videos
  • You're willing to text, quote, ask for reviews and offer maintenance plans — the selling half of the trade
Who it’s not for

Honest boundaries, up front

  • You want to learn paint correction or ceramic coating — that's skill training this bag deliberately defers
  • You're opening a fixed-location shop with staff and a lease
  • You want an income promise; this bag reports real ranges, including the slow first months
  • You're outside the US — the legal, insurance and tax material is US-specific
What you’ll be able to do

What you’ll know before your first paying job.

Choose your version of the business

The three ways to run water and power, the four services to offer first, and the scope ladder — what you decline until you're trained, and how to say it.

Playbook ch. 3 · Script 9

Buy the kit without the famous mistakes

A three-tier budget with the four documented overspends locked at quantity zero, low/typical/high prices, and a runway calculator.

Startup Budget (02)

Build a menu that pays your hourly

Your overhead and target income become a target rate, a minimum charge, and a price menu by service and vehicle size — with real market ranges beside every number.

Pricing & Quote Builder (03), Menu Builder

Quote from photos without getting burned

Condition questions, three photos, and a LOW–HIGH range that widens when you haven't seen the car — confirmed at the walk-around, never renegotiated mid-job.

Job Quote tab · Script 2

Run job days that protect you

The with-customer walk-around with photos, service routines with time targets, weather rules, and a close-out that gets you paid, reviewed and rebooked.

Job Day Cards + Paperwork Pack (07)

Book your first ten customers

A 30-day plan on the channels beginners actually report working — with every text, post and reply already written.

First Customers Plan + Scripts (04)

Turn one-time details into a route

The maintenance-plan pitch, the rates that make it work, and the job log that tells you when to raise prices.

Maintenance Plans + Job Log tabs (03)

How the pieces fit

Eight phases. One gate.

Start Here gives you the roadmap, and every file shows where you are on it. Phase 5 ends with the line that matters: you are now ready for a paying job.

Read the Playbook chapter for the phase, use the tool it points to, tick the checklist, move on. The reference files — Products & Surfaces, Where You Can Work, the Job Day Cards — ride along in the car and come out when a phase or a job calls for them.

What it doesn’t do

The boundaries, in writing

  • No income promises. It reports what operators actually earn and spend, including the slow first months.
  • It won't teach machine polishing, ceramic coating, mold remediation or odor-machine work — it tells you why those wait, and what to say when a customer asks.
  • US-focused: licensing, insurance, tax and water rules are described for the US, with a verify-locally path for everything jurisdictional.
  • It's a starting system, not a course or a subscription — one purchase, one download, yours to keep.
How it was made

Researched, built, checked

  • Researched in August 2026 across six areas — costs and equipment, services and pricing, technique and damage risks, legal and insurance, customer acquisition, and the documented beginner experience — from government and insurer pages, manufacturers' own guidance, real detailers' menus and policies in nine metros, and practitioner forums.
  • The spreadsheets are generated from code and tested: every formula checked against hand calculations, including the awkward cases — typed values, blanks, zeros, text in number cells.
  • Every number is sourced or labeled as an estimate with its date; everything jurisdiction-dependent carries a verify-locally path at the point of use.
  • Checked against our editorial standard (American English, evergreen, beginner-first) and an independent QC pass before release.

Questions

Before you buy

What exactly do I get, and how?

A ZIP with 10 components in 12 files: 8 PDF guides (86 pages total), 2 spreadsheets (.xlsx) and 2 editable Word documents (.docx). Two components come as a pair — the First Customers Plan (PDF) with its Scripts (Word), and the Job Day Cards (PDF) with the Customer Paperwork Pack (Word). Checkout and delivery are handled by Payhip; the download is available immediately after payment and stays available from your Payhip link.

Do the spreadsheets work in Google Sheets?

They're built for Excel and Google Sheets: standard formulas only, dropdowns backed by list sheets, no macros. Yellow cells are yours; gray cells calculate.

Isn't this all on YouTube?

Much of the raw information is free — spread across hundreds of videos and threads that contradict each other, which is exactly the problem. The most common beginner question in this trade is "what do I actually need?" This bag is that answer, organized: the shortlist, the order, the tools that calculate, and the paperwork — instead of another forty tabs.

Does it teach paint correction or ceramic coating?

Deliberately not. Machine polishing can burn through paint, and coatings lock in whatever's underneath — that's skill training you take on later, on a path the Playbook lays out. This bag builds the wash-and-interior business that funds it, and gives you the words to decline those jobs professionally in the meantime.

How do I price jobs without getting burned by a filthy car?

That's the bag's center of gravity: condition questions and three photos before quoting, a LOW–HIGH range from the Job Quote tab that widens when you haven't seen the vehicle, and a walk-around confirmation before work starts. The tool also shows the effective hourly on every quote, so underpricing is visible before you hit send.

Can I detail at apartments or offices?

Often, with the property manager's permission — and the bag shows you the rinseless setup that usually turns a no into a yes (no hose, one or two gallons, no runoff), plus the message to send. Wash-water rules vary by city; Where You Can Work gives you the three calls that answer yours.

What's the refund policy?

LaunchBags are instantly delivered digital products, so all sales are final once the download has been provided. We refund duplicate charges, and if a file won't open in the listed formats or the product is materially different from what this page says, we fix it — or refund if we can't. Change of mind isn't refundable. Details on the Refunds page.

Will it be updated?

Volatile figures are dated and labeled. We periodically review time-sensitive information and may provide updated files to existing customers when material updates are released.

Can I print it?

Yes. The PDFs are laid out for US Letter and read well in grayscale. The Job Day Cards and the surface cards are designed to be printed and used in the field.
